We Want to Get Married In Church

Fantastic!

You have quite a bit of freedom as to which church you may get married in. For details of how you may qualify to be married at a particular church, please have a look here. The Church of England also has an excellent website that offers you some guidance how you might personalise your wedding service.

If you live on the Ladygrove Estate your parish church is the delightful medieval Church of All Saints' in Lydalls Road and we would be happy to make the arrangements to marry you there.
It is also possible to conduct wedding services at the Ladygrove Community Centre. However, there are a lot more restrictions as to who may be married there with special permission needed from the Archbishop of Canterbury. That requires more time, documentation and cost.

Legal Requirements

We are required to check the nationality of all people we marry so early on in the proces we will ask to see your passport. If you don't have a passport, we can advise of what other documents we can use.
If you have been previously married, we will need to see your decree absolute. Further details about marriage after divorce can be found at the Church of England website.

Getting Your Banns Read

If you live on the Estate but are looking to get married elsewhere you will need to have your banns published at All Saints' Church. That means that at the main service of the day (10am) on three consecutive Sundays within three months of the date of your wedding a minister at All Saints' will read out your names and declare that you intend to get married. Once this has been done, you will be given a certificate which you need to give to the minister marrying you. Please contact us so that we can visit you to make the necessary arrangements.

Preparation

At the beginning of each year we, along with All Saints' Church, run a Marriage Preparation Day to start to look at the wedding service but also to consider some of the joys and trials of married life. It is open to any couple living in Didcot who are getting married that year. The preparation day for 2017 has been arranged for Saturday, 18th February, 10.00am-2.00pm.

We also produce a document which gives you some of the basic information about various aspects of your wedding day at All Saints' Church, including the current fees.
